Anglers Cabin and Rod Shed

The comfortable lakeside Cabin is equipped with a flush toilet, hot and cold running water, tables and chairs, microwave, kettle and toaster for use by all visitors.

Adjacent to the Anglers Cabin is a secure Rod Shed with CCTV for the exclusive use of guests staying in Manor Fisheries accommodation, which is equipped with a barrow plus two fridges and a freezer:

  • Fridge 1 – chilled baits

  • Fridge 2 – guests cold drinks, food, etc

  • Freezer – frozen baits

Many thanks to Terry Keard for the donation of an excellent modern fridge which recently became surplus to his requirements. It is now in the Rod Shed which is an ideal location for storing bait as well as wet clothes and tackle.

Fishing Report – 1st May 2023 to 31st May 2023

Introduction

May eventually became warm after a very wet March and April leaving the grounds saturated but with the first sign of the Carp spawning on the 26th May.  

The following “Reports” from 11th March onwards, are based on angler reports recorded in the Cabin logbook. Congratulations to all those anglers who have featured in all three 2023 Leader Boards @ the Leader Board

Lake 1 (Carp) Logbook Catch Reports

The number of 20’s caught during the 2023 months of April and May has exceeded our usual 6-month (April to September) total. This April has been exceptional and an all-time record month for 20’s totalling 24 and weighing up to 23lbs 10ozs:

  • Arriving on the 30th April for his 48-hour session, Paul Duncan had great success using krill wafter baits with an occasional 6 to 10 freebies. Paul’s catch included 13 x Carp including 3 x 20’s with weights of:

    • Commons – 21lbs 6ozs, 19lbs 8ozs, 17lbs 8ozs, 14lbs 7ozs, 12lbs 4ozs, 9lbs 2ozs and 9lbs

    • Mirrors – 21lbs 8ozs, 20lbs 6ozs, 18lbs 12ozs, 14lbs 8ozs, 12lbs 2ozs and 11lbs 4ozs

  • Regular Terry Hare returned on the 2nd May and using pacific tuna boilie baits caught Commons weighing 15lbs 4ozs and 10lbs.

  • Returning on the 3rd May Peter Austen landed 3 x Commons weighing 20lbs 4ozs, 17lbs 6ozs and 15lbs 4ozs.

  • Visiting on the 3rd May Robert and Jackie Hanson landed 5 x Commons weighing 19lbs 1oz, 13lbs 2ozs, 12lbs 12ozs, 11lbs 5ozs and 10lbs 10ozs.

  • Pacific tuna boilies proved to be the successful bait on the 4th May when Nigel Hidson landed 5 x Mirrors and 3 x Commons weighing from 8lbs 8ozs to 15lbs 12ozs.

  • Paul Duncan returned on the 4th May for another mostly wet 48-hour session. Paul again had great success using krill wafter baits with an occasional 6 to 10 freebies landing 12 x Carp including with weights of:

    • Commons – 20lbs, 18lbs, 17lbs, 15lbs 8ozs, 2 x 14lbs 8ozs, 12lbs 8ozs, 12lbs, 11lbs 8ozs and 9lbs

    • Mirrors – 13lbs 8ozs and 12lbs 8ozs

  • When Chris Cook, Chris Batten and Paul Lewis began their 60-hour session on the 12th April, the heavy rain dissipated and all had good catches including twice raising the Carp Leader Board:

    • Paul Lewis – 3 x Carp from 12lbs to 15lbs plus 14lbs, 17lbs 5ozs

    • Chris Cook – 5 x Carp from 15lbs to a 23lbs 1oz Common to top the Carp Leader Board.

    • Chris Batten – Using spicy sausage with false sweetcorn baits, Mirrors weighing 23lbs 4ozs (to top the Carp Leader Board for 2-hours), 21lbs 20zs and 20lbs 7ozs and 18lbs 2ozs plus Commons weighing 20lbs 4ozs, 14lbs 4ozs, 14lbs and 13lbs

  • It was a Red Letter day for David Hare during a 24-hour session arriving the 13th April and landing 15 x Carp using boilie baits that weighed from 10lbs to 18lbs with an average of 15lbs.

  • Stuart Wood had a good session on the 17th May landing Commons weighing 18lbs 7ozs, 16lbs 8ozs, 12lbs and 11lbs plus Mirrors weighing 12lbs 8ozs and 11lbs 4ozs where krill and crayfish boilie was the successful bait.

  • Visiting on the 18th May, Raymond and Jackie Hanson caught 3 x Carp weighing 16lbs 3ozs, 11lbs and 10lbs 8ozs where coconut and maple boilie was the successful bait.

  • Sean Higgins visited on the 19th May and using squid boilie baits plus pop-ups landed Commons weighing 18lbs and 13lbs plus a 16lbs Mirror.

  • Arriving on the 19th May, Jason Hodge used krill boilie baits and during the night landed Commons weighing 21lbs 5ozs, 20lbs 2ozs and 14lbs plus Mirrors of 16lbs 8ozs and 12lbs.

  • Sue Stephen-ford and Tony Back arrived for a short break on the 20th May and were soon targeting the Carp with great success catching 10 x 20’s resulting in 5 x PB’s:

  • 20th May

    • Tony – a 9lbs Common using coconut and squid cream boilie baits.

  • 21st May

    • Tony – a 18lbs Common on a spicy squid bait plus a 21lbs 8ozs PB Common on a sweetcorn boilie bait.

    • Sue – Commons weighing 12lbs 8ozs and 10lbs 8ozs using coconut and squid cream boilie baits.

  • 22nd May

    • Tony – a 15lbs 2ozs Mirror on a spicy squid bait

    • Sue – a 21lbs 8ozs PB Mirror and 4 x Commons weighing 21lbs PB, 17lbs 4ozs, 17lbs 2ozs and 14lbs 4ozs

  • 23rd May

    • Tony – a 22lbs 8ozs new PB Common, plus Mirrors weighing 16lbs 4ozs and 10lbs using spicy squid, nutcracker and garlic cheese boilie baits.

    • Sue – Commons weighing 20lbs 3ozs, 2olbs 2ozs, 18lbs 14ozs, 18lbs, 16lbs 7ozs, 15lbs 6ozs, 14lbs 9ozs and 9lbs.

  • 24th May

    • Tony – a 23lbs 2ozs PB Mirror and 2 x 14lbs Commons using coconut and squid cream boilie baits.

    • Sue – Commons weighing 20lbs 5ozs and 18lbs 10ozs plus a 16lbs 9ozs Mirror.

  • 25th May

    • Tony – Commons weighing 18lbs, 17lbs 5ozs, 17lbs 3ozs and 14lbs 5ozs plus Mirrors of 14lbs 2ozs, 14lbs 1oz and 12lbs 3ozs all on spicy squid boilie baits.

    • Sue – Mirrors of 20lbs 5ozs and 18lbs 4ozs plus Commons of 18lbs 8ozs and 18lbs 5ozs and all on coconut and squid cream boilie baits.

  • 26th May

    • Tony- Common weighing 18lbs 12ozs, 16lbs 7ozs, 15lbs 3ozs and 14lbs 10ozs on spicy squid boilie baits.

    • Sue – Commons weighing 20lbs 14ozs and 17lbs 15ozs plus a 16lbs 10ozs Mirror on coconut and squid cream boilie baits.

  • When returning on the 24th May Raymond Hanson landed a 15lbs 11ozs Common.

  • Using bloodworm plus orange DT Baits on the 26th May Steve Mundy landed Commons weighing 22lbs, 16lbs, 14lbs and 11lbs.

  • Returning on the 26th May for a 48-hour session, Paul Duncan used frill boilie baits to catch Commons weighing 17lbs, 16lbs, 14lbs 12ozs and 12lbs.

  • Mark Donnelly visited on the 27th May and caught a 15lbs Common where CC Moore pacific tuna boilie was the successful bait.

  • Ray Margiotta returned for a short break on the 27th May and was soon into the Carp with weights of:

    • 28th May – Commons of 18lbs and 16lbs on halibut pellet

    • 29th May – 18lbs Mirror and 16lbs Common on halibut pellet

    • 30th May - a 20lbs Mirror and a 16lbs Common plus 2 x Cats of 29lbs 8ozs and 16lbs when fishing later on Lake 2 (Carp/Catfish) and using halibut pellet baits.

  • Ted Welch visited on the 28th May and landed a 19lbs 10ozs Mirror and a 13lbs 6ozs Common.

  • Stephen Oneill visited on the 29th May and landed Mirrors weighing 17lbs and 10lbs using plastic corn baits.

  • Visiting on the 30th May, Gary Parker landed 2 x Commons weighing 19lbs 9ozs and 13lbs 7ozs.

Lake 2 (Carp/Catfish) Logbook Catch Reports

  • Regulars Mark and Sue Rogers returned on the 2nd May and using liver plus garlic glug baits it was Mark who this time landed a 21lbs 2ozs Cat.

    • Alan and Terry Pettit arrived on the 9th May for a 36-hour session and whist experiencing ran showers both landed Cats including weights of:

    • Alan – 20lbs 13ozs on double krill boilie and 8lbs 13ozs on Cell

  • Terry- 30lbs 2ozs on double krill boilie and 10lbs 2ozs Common on single krill boilie

  • Arriving on the 12th May for initially a wet 36-hour session, Barry Nicholls landed 4 x small Commons weighing from 3lbs to 10lbs followed by a 36lbs 2ozs Cat caught around 6pm.

  • Visiting on the 13th April Peter Smith landed a 12lbs Common using boilie with sweetcorn pop-up baits.

  • Returning on the 23rd May Mark Rogers landed Cats weighing 26lbs 10ozs and 8lbs 15ozs where salty squid boilie was the successful bait.

  • Arriving on the 26th May for a 48-hour session Daniel Selby landed Cats weighing 28lbs 8ozs and 28lbs.

  • Brian Bailey arrived on the 28th May for a 24-hour session and finished with Cats weighing 38lbs and 35lbs plus a 10lbs Common.

Lake 3 (Mixed) Logbook Catch Reports

  • Thomas Beever had his hands full with his young children Thomas, Jacob and Olive They arrived on the 30th April to experience an overnight adventure. Using a variety of baits including sweetcorn plus both strawberry and pineapple boilies their catch included:

    • 16 x Carp fron 6lbs to 10lbs

    • 2 x Tench weighing 4lbs and 2lbs

    • 2 x Bream weighing 5lbs and 4lbs

  • Brian Madden and Len Chapman arrived on the 1st May for a short break and were soon catching:

    • 1 May

      • Brian – ledgering with 6 to 8mm pellet baits 8 x Carp to 9lbs 7ozs

      • Len – float fishing with sweetcorn bait 8 x Carp to 8lbs

    • 2 May

      • Brian – ledgering and landing 2 x Bream and 6 x Carp

      • Len – 13 x Carp to 10lbs and 2 x Tench to 2lbs 8ozs

    • 3 May

      • Brian – 4 x Bream, 6 x Carp and a Tench

      • Len – 12 x Carp to 12lbs 6ozs

    • 4 May 2023        

      • Brian – 2 x Bream and 21 x Carp to 12lbs

      • Len – 5 x Carp and 2 x Tench

  • Thamesmead Town Angling Club visited on a sunny 7th May and on arrival saw several Carp topping but they soon became elusive. Eleven anglers competed over 6-hours and the leading weights were:

    • Dave M – 39lbs 14ozs and soft pellet bait

    • Elliot F – 30lbs 10s and caster bait

    • Tucker – 6lbs 4ozs and maggot bait

  • Arriving on the 12th April for a short break, John Price landed Tench weighing 4lbs 2ozs, 3lbs 12ozs and 3lbs.

  • William Dockerill visited on the 14th May and using Robin Red plus a method mix landed 4 x Commons and a Mirror.

  • Visiting on the 17th May Duncan Brown caught 10 x Carp weighing from 8lbs to 11lbs using boilie and bread baits plus a 2lbs Tench on sweetcorn.

  • Neil Cordier visited on the 20th May and landed 2 x Commons and a Mirror.

  • Dominic and Alex Minney both caught on the 20th May:

    • Alex – 5lbs 6ozs Carp

    • Dominic – 8lbs and 6lbs Carp

  • It was a Mixed bag for Gary Zweck and his two young sons on the 20th May landing dozens of Rudd and Perch plus Commons weighing 8lbs 9ozs, 2 x 7lbs 4ozs, 5lbs 7ozs, 4lbs 9ozs and 4lbs 7ozs plus a 5lbs 4ozs Mirror and a 3lbs 2ozs Bream.

  • Visiting on the 22nd May, Roger Simmons catch included Commons weighing 8lbs and 4lbs, a 2lbs tench and Bream weighing 2 x 3lbs and 2 x 2lbs plus 10+ Rudd.

  • A short sesion on the 25th May resulted in successes for both Terry Crank and Paul Smith including:

    • Terry – 11 x Carp to a 9lbs 6ozs Mirror, 2 x 4lbs Bream and a 3lbs 12ozs Tench all on a method feeder rod.

    • Paul – 9 x Carp to 6lbs 9ozs on ledgered spicey cheese boilies.

  • Returning on the 25th May, Peter Austen landed 2 x 2lbs Tench and a 7lbs 4ozs Carp.

  • On the 27th May 13 x anglers from the Bexley Angling Club competed over 6-hours and the leading weights were:

    • David Polston – 92lbs using a method feeder to the far bank with Supercrush ground bait

    • Gary Butcher – 35lbs 10ozs

    • Andy Newman – 28lbs 8ozs

  • William Dockerill plus friends and family visited on the 28th May and all had success:

    • William – 8 x Carp from 5lbs to 10lbs, plus a Bream using a method feeder and Robin Red baits

    • David Odds – 5 x Carp from 6lbs to 11lbs

    • Joshua – 2 x Commons, a Mirror, a Tench and a Bream

    • Keown – A Carp, 31 x Rudd and 5 x Perch

  • Visiting on the 28th May, Chris Ball landed 5 x Carp to 10lbs plus Roach, Rudd and Perch.

  • Peter Wanless visited on the 29th May and using M+C pellets landed Carp weighing 2 x 8lbs, 7lbs, 6lbs and 2 x 5lbs.

  • Sean Daly and Duncan Brown visited on the 29th May and both had succrss using boilie and luncheon meat baits:

    • Sean – 7 x Carp ranging from 5lbs to 10lbs

    • Duncan – 10 x Carp ranging from 5lbs to 10lbs

  • Peter Austen returned on the 31st May and using prawn baits landed 3 x Commons weighing 9lbs 4ozs, 5lbs 4ozs and 3lbs plus a 2lbs 8ozs Tench.

  • Visiting on the 31st May, Graham and Tina Payne used pellet bait and caught 2 x Commons weighing 8lbs and 7lbs plus 2 x Tench weighing 3lbs and 2lbs.
