NEWS 1 September 2023 to 28 September 2023

The time has come to say goodbye and thank all who have visited, helped with Work Parties and supported Manor Fisheries over the past 15 years to create an enjoyable and friendly environment.

The new owners are planning the fishery/accommodation will continue running closely along the present lines with every reservation being honoured.

We will miss you all and wish you all well.

Fishing Report – 1st September 2023 to 28th September 2023

With this late warm summer many anglers have experienced great catches and new PB’s including raising both the 2023 Carp and Catfish Leader Boards. The following “Records” from 11th March onwards, are based on angler reports recorded in the Cabin logbook. Congratulations to all those anglers who set new PB’s and featured in all three 2023 Leader Boards @ the Leader Board.

Lake 1 (Carp) Logbook Catch Reports

As a result of repeated winter feeding (and better reporting?) this season has seen the number of 20’s increase significantly with the month of May being exceptional:

The unusually hot September weather has brought the Carp onto the feed which has created exceptional results including a new 2023 Carp Leader Board contender. Well done to Danny Smith – see below.

  • During a 3-day break arriving the 1st September, Patrick Carrick, Declan Moore and Matthew O’Toole all had great catches including weights of:

    • Patrick – 5 x Commons from 12lbs 8ozs to 18lbs 8oz

    • Declan – Commons of 17lbs 4ozs PB and 13lbs 2oz

    • Matthew – 10lbs PB Commo

  • Robert and Jacqueline Hanson arrived for a break on the 2nd September and were soon into the Carp with weights of

  • Returning on the 5th September Steve Mundy landed 3 x Commons weighing 15lbs, 14lbs 8ozs and 12lbs.

  • It was a Red Letter Day for regular Ken Darvill on the 5th September when he landed 22 x Carp including weights of:

    • Commons – 19lbs, 2 x 16lbs, 15lbs, 2 x 14lbs, 11lbs 15ozs, 11lbs 8ozs, 3 x 11lbs, 2 x 10lbs and 9lbs

    • Mirror – 21lbs, 14lbs, 13lbs, 11lbs, 10lbs 8ozs, 10lbs, 9lbs and 8lbs 8ozs.

  • Steve O’Neill returned on the 6th September and using yellow corn bait caught 11 x Carp weighing from 10lbs to 18lbs.

  • When returning on the 7th September Ray Hanson landed 4 x Carp including Commons weighing 14lbs 10ozs, 13lbs 8ozs and 10lbs 3ozs plus a 11lbs 4ozs Mirror.

  • Graeme Holmes arrived on the 9th September for a short break and landed 36 x Carp weighing from 12lbs to 22lbs 9ozs (including 2 x 20’s) using Mainline link baits. Three were taken off the top using bread.

  • Regular Danny Smith arrived on the 14th September for 36-hours which became a Red-Letter session landing 18 x Carp to top the 2023 Carp Leader Board with a 24lbs Mirror (one of 3 x 20’s) including weights of:

    • Commons – 19lbs 2ozs, 18lbs 2ozs, 18lbs, 17lbs 12ozs, 16lbs 8ozs, 16lbs 4ozs, 2 x 16lbs 2ozs, 15lbs, 14lbs 2ozs and 10lbs 4ozs.

    • Mirrors – 24lbs, 22lbs 8ozs, 20lbs 2ozs, 17lbs 8ozs, 15lbs 8ozs, 12lbs 8ozs and 12lbs.

  • Bernie and Tracy Day visited on the 15th September when Bernie landed 2 x Commons weighing 13lbs and 12lbs plus a 15lbs Mirror and Tracy had a 13lbs Common.  

  • Steve O’Neill returned on the 16th September and using sweetcorn baits landed 3 x low doubles Carp.

  • Regular Terry Hare visited on the 18th September and using pacific tuna boilie baits landed 6 x Carp including Commons weighing 16lbs 8ozs, 14lbs 12ozs and 11lbs plus Mirrors of 15lbs 6ozs, 13lbs 4ozs and 10lbs 8ozs.

  • Returning on the 19th September, regular Adrian Burton used pacific tuna boilie baits and had successes in landing 7 x Commons to 17lbs 9ozs plus 4 x mirrors to 16lbs 6ozs.

  • Roger Simmons returned on the 21st September and landed 5 x Carp including Commons weighing 15lbs, 12lbs, 10lbs and 8lbs plus a 10lbs Mirror.

  • Regulars Chris Cook and Paul Lewis arrived on the 20th September for a 5-day session and using Mainline link boilie baits had great success landing 65 x Carp including weights of:

    • Chris – 33 x Carp from 9lbs 1ozs to 17lbs

    • Paul – 32 x Carp from 10lbs 2ozs to 21lbs 4ozs.

  • During a visit arriving 22nd September; Chris Batten used sticky manilla and tutti shrimp boilie baits to catch:

    • 10 x Commons weighing from 11lbs to 16lbs 8ozs.

    • 2 x Mirrors weighing from 12lbs 7ozs to 15lbs 6ozs.

  • Returning on the 26th September for a 60-hour session, regulars Terry Keard plus Roy and Andrew Simpson all had a good results landing 47 x Carp including weights of:

    • Terry

      • Commons – 16lbs 2ozs, 13lbs 12ozs, 11lbs 9ozs, 10lbs 8ozs, 10lbs 6ozs, 2 x 10lbs 4ozs, 9lbs 15ozs and 9lbs 12ozs.

    • Roy – using krill plus Necture boilie baits.

      • Commons – 13lbs 12ozs, 12lbs 15ozs, 12lbs 6ozs, 11lbs 7ozs, 11lbs 6ozs, 11lbs 5ozs, 11lbs 2ozs, 10lbs 11ozs, 10lbs 8ozs and 10lbs 5ozs.

      • Mirrors – 15lbs 7ozs, 13lbs 7ozs, 13lbs 3ozs, 13lbs 2ozs and 11lbs 8ozs.

    • Andrew using sweet candy baits.

  • Returning on the 29th September, regular Ted Welch landed Commons weighing 19lbs 10ozs, 18lbs, 15lbs, 14lbs 8ozs, 14lbs, 13lbs 6ozs and 13lbs plus a 11lbs 2ozs Mirror.

  • Stephen O’Neill and David Golding visited on the 30th September and using sweetcorn and boilie baits landed 13 x Carp weighing from 12lbs to 17lbs.

The unusually hot September weather has brought the Cats on the feed which has created exceptional results including a new lake record of 58lbs. Well done to Gary Hilton – see below.

Lake 2 (Carp/Catfish) Logbook Catch Reports

  • During a 3-day break arriving the 1st September, Sonny and Mitchell France plus Lee Collins all had great catches including weights of:

    • Cats - 30lbs – Sonny PB, 22lbs, 19lbs – Lee PB and 7lbs 6ozs

    • Mirrors from 12lbs to 22lbs

    • 5 x Commons from 12lbs to 20lbs

  • Returning on the 16th September for a 36-hour session and using 21mm halibut pellet baits, their catch included Cats of 24lbs and 12lbs plus Commons and Mirrors weighing from 12lbs to 20lbs.

  • Returning again on the 30th September for a 36-hour session, resulted in 8 x Carp ranging from 12lbs to 17lbs for Sonny and Cats weighing 20lbs, 16lbs and 12lbs for Mitchell.

  • Paul Black visited with grandson Daniel on the 5th September and both had successes including

    • Paul – Cats weighing 34lbs 6ozs and 16lbs 6ozs on 20nn halibut pellet baits

    • Daniel – Commons weighing 15lbs and 10lbs using Cell boilie baits.

  • It was the welcome return of Gary and Christine Hilton, who after two years arrived for a break on the 9th September and he was soon landing Cats where large “Mack Attack” pellet baits (www.catfishbait.co.uk) was the successful bait:

    • 9th Sep – Gary who is a member of “Mad Catters” started with catching a 25lbs Cat which was followed by weights of 47lbs and 53lbs (a new lake record) to become the winner of the 2023 Catfish Leader Board

    • 10th Sep – the day started by creating another new lake record of 58lbs followed by Cat weights of 24lbs and 30lbs.

    • 11th Sep – Cats of 25lbs, 13lbs and 10lbs plus a 11lbs Common

    • 12th Sep – Cats of 35lbs, 33lbs and 16lbs plus Commons of 2 x 12lbs, 10lbs, 9lbs and 8lbs.

    • 13th Sep – 12lbs Cat

    • 14th Sep – 21lbs Cat and a 13lbs Carp

    • 15th Sep – Cats of 33lbs, 20lbs, 18lbs, 16lbs and 14lbs plus Carp of 10lbs and 7lbs.

  • Ray Margiotta returned for a short break on the 9th September and after being offered some large “Mack Attack” pellet baits by Gary, had success with catching Cats weighing

Lake 3 (Mixed) Logbook Catch Reports

  • Arriving for a 3-day break on the 1st September, Neil Whitaker was successful in landing 16 x Carp (Commons and Mirrors) weighing from 5lbs to 9lbs plus Tench and Bream.

  • Visiting on the 2nd September David Odds and son Joshua both had success including weights of:

    • David – 5 x Commons from 5lbs to 11lbs

    • Joshua – 3 x Commons from 5lbs to 11lbs, a 7lbs Mirror, 3 x Bream and 2 x Rudd.

  • Returning for a short break of the 4thSeptember, both Brian Madden and Len Chapman has great catches including:

    • 4th Sep

      • Brian – 10 x Carp to 8lbs plus 3 x Tench

      • Len – 13 x Carp to 8lbs plus 3 x Tench and a Rudd on sweetcorn using a method feeder.

    • 5th Sep

      • Brian – 16 x Carp and a Tench

      • Len – 14 x Carp to 8lbs plus 2 x Tench and 2 x Bream on sweetcorn.

    • 6th Sep

      • Brian – 7 x Carp from 2lbs to 7lbs on a method feeder

      • Len – 20 x Carp to 9lbs, 1 x Tench and 1 x Bream float fishing using sweetcorn bait.

    • 7th Sep

      • Brian – 10 x Carp to 8lbs

      • Len – 15 x Carp to 9lbs and 2 x Tench to 3lbs float fishing with sweetcorn bait.

  • Arriving on a lovely warm 12th September Gary Jennings used luncheon meat (with a yellow pop-up) bait and had great success landing 10 x Commons and 7 x Mirrors weighing from 4lbs to 10lbs plus 2 x Bream.

  • Regular Martin Crease visited on the 16th September and had a great Mixed catch including:

    • 18 x Commons to 10lbs 8ozs

    • 4 x Mirrors to 8lbs

    • A 3lbs Bream and a 2 lbs Tench

  • Gary Zweck had a great catch when he returned on the 22nd September and using a method feeder/waggler technique plus a variety of baits including Robin Red, bread and pacific tuna boilie; landed:

    • 18x Commons to 8lbs 1oz

    • 10 x Mirrors to 7lbs 8ozs

    • 3 x Tench to 3lbs 1oz

  • Returning on the 24th September; Tony Osbourne used pellet baits with his feeder rod to land 17 x Commons.

  • Regular Andrew Matcham returned on the 25th September and using a method feeder landed 16 x Carp including weights of:

    • 7 x Commons to 11lbs 9ozs

    • 9 x Mirrors to 8lbs
